Prevention & Social Services and Access Center

First Day's Prevention and Social Services Center in Whittier acts as a comprehensive access hub, offering a wide range of services aimed at preventing homelessness and stabilizing at-risk individuals and families.

Access to Care Program: The Access to Care Program provides essential services and support to help clients stabilize their lives. Key services include the provision of hygiene items, clothing, bus/gas vouchers, access to technology and phones, a mailing address, and assistance with obtaining identification. The Access Center places a strong emphasis on health and wellness through its onsite medical clinic, operated in partnership with PIH Health. This clinic offers comprehensive health, mental health, and substance abuse services.

Recently, the Whittier site’s medical treatment room has been further strengthened by the addition of a newly hired Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), in collaboration with PIH doctors. This new CNA hire is expected to expand the partnership with PIH Health, enhancing the level of care provided and ensuring the stabilization of referrals needed for a successful and sustained collaboration. The Access Center serves approximately 1,300 unduplicated individuals annually, ensuring that clients receive the necessary support to prevent homelessness and achieve stability.
