Other Ways To Be Involved

Monthly Friendship Dinners

In June 2016, First Day launched its Friendship Dinner program, where in local churches, civic organizations and community groups, volunteer on a monthly basis to provide dinner for our shelter participants. These dinners provide an opportunity for our local supporters to break bread with First Day shelter residents, building friendship and a sense of community and most importantly, helping to break down the stereotypical concepts that perpetuate homelessness. Whittier Area Community Church provided our inaugural dinner and since then has been joined by the East Whittier Presbyterian Church and the Church of Latter Day Saints in Whittier. If your church or community group is interested in learning more about First Day's Friendship Dinner program, please contact info@whittierfirstday.org.

Donations & Volunteers

Clothing Donations
Donations of new or gently used clothing for all ages and sizes are always needed. Seasonal items like jackets, hats, and gloves are especially helpful during the colder months.

Food Donations
Non-perishable food items are critical for supporting our clients. Donations of canned goods, dry pasta, rice, and other staple items are greatly appreciated.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are various ways to volunteer with First Day, from helping out at our shelter and access center to participating in community outreach events. Volunteers play a vital role in our mission to end homelessness.

Financial Contributions
Monetary donations are always welcome and help us sustain and expand our programs. Contributions can be made online, by mail, or in-person.

Community Drives
Organize a community drive to collect essential items like hygiene products, clothing, and food. This is a great way to get your community involved and make a significant impact.

Spread the Word
Follow us on social media and share our mission with your network. Raising awareness is a powerful way to support our efforts and help us reach more people in need. (ADD IN OUR SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS)
